What is your shoe size? Odds are you're a US 10, UK 7.5 or European 40. But there are 15 different systems around the world, from France's 31 to China's 240.Here is our own handy guide on how to convert european shoe sizes:

EURO 36 – US 5

EURO 37 – US 5.5    EURO 38 – US 6 (XXS)

EURO 39 – US 6.5 (XS)

EURO 40 – US 7 (S)

EURO 41 -US 7.5 (M)

EURO 42 – US 8 (L)

EURO 43 -US 8.5 (XL)

EURO 44 – US 9 (2XL)

EURO 45 – US 10 (3XL)

EURO 46 – US 11 (4XL)The chart is based on the systems used in France, Italy and Germany. If you are from another part of Europe, you may find that your size is slightly different.To convert from one system to another, multiply the number of centimeters by 1.75. eg:

If your foot measures 74.5cm x 30cm = 24" x 9" = 183cm3 – you would use 183cm3 / 1.75 = 115mm per square inch. The conversion chart is below:

Shoe sizes are often listed in cm, although one foot is generally larger in diameter than the other. The ISO standard for shoe size is for each foot to measure 61/2" x 3/4" = 23.6cm2, so the actual size of your feet will vary from this, 1 cm wider at the heel and 1 cm narrower at the toe. For example, a UK size 5.5 shoe is usually 45.7cm2, whereas a Euro size 36 will be 41.5cm2, so they are not exactly the same.There is no standard formula for converting sizes from one angle to another as it depends on the shape of the shoe and how it is manufactured. It can also depend on where you buy your shoes from as well as the country you are in.If you are going to be travelling around Europe make sure your shoes fit properly, otherwise it will lead to some very unpleasant days with blisters on your heels and rubbing at the sides of your feet.So the next time you are in the shoe store, be aware of the different sizes used in each country and try them on to find a pair that will suit your feet.If you can't find a pair that looks comfortable from just trying them on, try walking around in them first, or even test run a few laps of the shop to see how they will feel on a long walk.Title:how are european shoe sizes measured
